The Night Light Shelter is an emergency men's winter shelter that is open overnight (8:30 p.m. to 8 a.m.) from November 1st through March 31st and located in the former parsonage of Community Reformed Church at 100 Oak Street in Charlevoix. This shelter contains a kitchen/dining room area, a bathroom with shower, a bedroom with bunkbeds to house 8 guests, and a washer and dryer so the guests can do their laundry. There is also a computer available for the guests to apply for jobs, benefits, and various permanent housing opportunities.
New volunteers are given an orientation and initially partnered with an experienced volunteer. Most of our volunteers work two nights a month; however, some are willing to do more, and some can only do one night a month. We’re grateful for whatever time they can give us.
