Description
About the Role
We are looking for a Strategic Fundraising & Financial Sustainability Advisor to provide strategic guidance on fundraising, philanthropy, donor engagement, financial sustainability, and partnership development.
This is an opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute their expertise and networks to a growing nonprofit organization whose work centers on equity, dignity, and the visibility of mountain workers.
The ideal candidate will help us think strategically about diversifying our funding sources, cultivating relationships with philanthropic supporters, strengthening our financial sustainability, and identifying opportunities for long-term organizational growth.
This is a volunteer advisory position, not a paid employment opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Philanthropy
- Advise on fundraising strategies and the development of diversified, sustainable funding streams.
- Identify potential foundations, philanthropic organizations, corporate social responsibility programs, and other funding opportunities aligned with PVC's mission.
- Share insights on grant funding, major donor engagement, and long-term fundraising development.
Donor Engagement & Relationship Development
- Provide guidance on cultivating and maintaining meaningful relationships with individual donors, foundations, and institutional funders.
- Help identify opportunities to expand PVC's philanthropic network and strengthen donor engagement.
- Where appropriate, facilitate introductions to potential funders and strategic supporters.
Financial Management & Organizational Sustainability
- Advise on financial sustainability, resource allocation, and long-term financial planning.
- Help identify strategies for strengthening organizational resilience and reducing dependence on any single funding source.
- Share expertise in nonprofit financial management, budgeting, and financial stewardship.
Strategic Partnerships & Networks
- Identify potential institutional and strategic partners who can support PVC's mission and growth.
- Help cultivate relationships that may lead to funding, collaboration, or other opportunities.
- Provide strategic guidance on building partnerships that strengthen PVC's long-term impact.
Qualifications
We welcome applicants with relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Philanthropy, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
- Foundation relations, grantmaking, or institutional funding.
- Major donor cultivation and donor relationship management.
- Nonprofit financial management, budgeting, or financial planning.
- Organizational sustainability and resource development.
- Strategic partnerships, institutional relationship building, or philanthropic networks.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with nonprofit organizations, tourism industry, foundations, philanthropic institutions, or mission-driven initiatives.
Experience in human rights, social justice, international development, or community-centered organizations is welcome but not required.
Equally important is a genuine commitment to PVC's mission and a willingness to contribute strategic insight, professional expertise, and, where feasible, relevant connections.
We recognize that candidates may not possess expertise in every area. We welcome individuals whose experience in one or more of these fields can meaningfully strengthen our organization.
What You Will Gain
- The opportunity to contribute to a growing human rights nonprofit with a clear social mission.
- The ability to help strengthen the financial foundation of initiatives that elevate underrepresented mountain workers.
- An opportunity to apply your professional expertise toward meaningful social impact.
- The chance to collaborate with a mission-driven team working at the intersection of human rights, gender equity, storytelling, and mountain tourism.
Time Commitment & Structure
This is a flexible, remote volunteer advisory role. We anticipate an initial commitment of approximately 4–6 hours per month, with the possibility of adjusting based on mutual interest and availability. We require at least 1 year commitment with a possibility of being asked to join as a voting Board member.
The advisor will collaborate with PVC's leadership and may participate in periodic advisory discussions, provide strategic input, and assist with identifying relevant funding and partnership opportunities.
This is an advisory position and does not automatically confer voting rights or formal board membership.
How to Express Interest
If you have experience in fundraising, philanthropy, financial management, donor engagement, or strategic partnerships and would like to help strengthen PVC's long-term sustainability, we would love to hear from you.
Please submit a brief introduction outlining your relevant experience, areas of expertise, and interest in supporting The Porter Voice Collective.
We welcome professionals who want to put their knowledge, relationships, and strategic thinking toward building a more equitable future for mountain workers.
Help us build the relationships and resources that make lasting impact possible.
