    Description

Celebrate Earth Day 2026 at South Prairie Creek Preserve - Join PCD's Apr. 25 Work Party!

Celebrate Earth Day 2026 at South Prairie Creek Preserve and join the April 25th volunteer work party as we prepare native trees and shrubs for the spring. During the spring months, grass is growing and animals are hungry. To protect plants from deer and elk herbivory, we need your help to install tree protector tubes. Bring your family and friends and help our plantings get ahead of the competition. Over 46,000 tress and shrubs have been planted at the Preserve over the last 20 years, and we need your help to build healthy and robust salmon habitat.

We also invite you to learn more about the birds of Washington State with an optional bird walk led by PCD's resident birder, Glenn Johnson. The bird walk will be led on-site before the event starts from 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM. We will have a few pairs of binoculars to loan out, but we encourage you bring you own gear, if possible.

    Bird Walk: 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM Volunteer Event: 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

    What To Expect:

    • Uneven terrain, wet and/or muddy ground.
    • Parking is limited. Please try to carpool with others in your party, if possible.
    • A porta potty is available on site.

    What To Bring:

    • Dress for success! Event will happen rain or shine, so please check the weather the morning of and dress accordingly. Layers are encouraged (long pants and sleeves), please wear close-toed, water-resistant shoes (rainboots work swimmingly), and we recommend having a rain jacket, just in case.
    • Full, reusable water bottle (A refill station will be available)
    • Personal gloves and tools (PCD will have ample loaner tools and gloves available, but you may bring your own gloves/tools if you wish)
