Volunteer Designer (Outdoors / Safety / Conservation Nonprofit)

Overview

We’re building a nonprofit focused on hiking safety, real-world decision making in the backcountry, and protecting the environments people move through. This is based on actual time on trail, not abstract messaging.

We need design help across a range of things. This is not one role and not one deliverable.

What We’re Looking For (pick what fits you)

You do not need to do everything below. If you’re strong in one area, that’s enough.

• Logo and identity concepts
• Graphics for articles (maps, icons, visual callouts)
• Apparel design (hats, shirts, simple gear branding)
• Social / web visuals
• General design direction and style development

Design Direction (loose)

• Outdoors-first, not corporate nonprofit
• Clean but not sterile
• Practical and usable in the field
• Recognizable and simple
• Themes: navigation, terrain, movement, decision-making, safety, environment

Role

This is flexible. You can contribute to one piece or multiple pieces depending on your interest and skill set. We’re building this over time, not looking for one “all-in-one” designer.

What You’d Do

• Share concepts or ideas in your area
• Iterate if needed
• Deliver usable files (PNG, JPG, vector/PDF)

What Helps

• Portfolio or past work
• Ability to design for real-world use
• Interest in outdoors is a plus, not required
