    Description

Front-End Developer – Army Pink Wellness Portal

    About Army Pink

Army Pink is a survivor-led nonprofit working to help survivors of domestic violence access safe, reliable transportation to safety and begin rebuilding their lives.

As part of our Pathway to Freedom program, we are developing the Army Pink Wellness Portal—a survivor-centered digital space providing access to wellness resources, guided healing tools, calming experiences, and practical support.

    Project Goal

We are seeking an experienced Front-End Developer to help build and implement the front-end experience for the Army Pink Wellness Portal.

The goal is to turn our approved designs, content, and visual assets into a responsive, accessible, polished, and easy-to-navigate web experience.

    What the Volunteer Will Do

    The volunteer will:

    • Build the front-end pages and components for the Wellness Portal
    • Implement approved UI/UX designs
    • Create responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile
    • Build navigation between the Wellness Portal sections
    • Implement the Recovery Rooms and Calm Room interfaces
    • Integrate provided images, illustrations, icons, videos, and other approved assets
    • Ensure interactive elements and links function correctly
    • Follow Army Pink’s existing visual/brand direction
    • Test the pages across common screen sizes and browsers
    • Identify and resolve front-end bugs
    • Coordinate with the UI/UX and backend volunteers as needed

    Key Portal Areas

The Wellness Portal includes survivor-centered resources such as:

    • Survivor Toolkit
    • Recovery Rooms
    • Calm Room
    • Guided wellness and healing resources
    • Wellness videos
    • Healing Library
    • Partner and support resources

The volunteer will work from existing project materials and approved designs rather than being expected to create the entire concept from scratch.

    Deliverables

    The completed project should include:

    1. Responsive front-end implementation of the Wellness Portal
    2. Working navigation between the primary portal sections
    3. Implemented Recovery Room and Calm Room interfaces
    4. Proper integration of provided visual and media assets
    5. Mobile, tablet, and desktop responsive layouts
    6. Cross-browser testing and front-end bug fixes
    7. Clean, organized, maintainable front-end code
    8. Handoff documentation explaining the implementation and any remaining items

    Skills Needed

    Required:

    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Responsive web development
    • Experience translating UI/UX designs into working websites
    • Git/GitHub
    • Front-end testing and troubleshooting

    Preferred:

    • React or another modern front-end framework
    • WordPress experience
    • Accessibility/WCAG experience
    • Experience working with APIs
    • Experience working on nonprofit, healthcare, wellness, or survivor-centered projects

    Existing Project

This is an existing project with an active volunteer development team. UI/UX, backend, design, animation, and content work are already underway.

The front-end developer will collaborate with those volunteers and will receive the existing designs, content, and visual assets needed to implement the portal.

    Time Commitment

We are looking for a volunteer who can provide consistent communication and make steady progress on the project. The exact timeline will depend on the volunteer’s availability and experience.

    Who You'll Work With

You will collaborate with Army Pink’s volunteer UI/UX, backend, design, animation, and project teams, with the goal of bringing the Wellness Portal designs and functionality together into a cohesive final experience.

    Impact

Your work will help create a private, accessible, survivor-centered online wellness experience that survivors can use to find resources, explore healing tools, and access supportive content at their own pace.

This is an opportunity to contribute meaningful technical skills to a nonprofit building a new digital resource for survivors of domestic violence.
