    21st Annual Milwaukee Steps Against Melanoma

    About the Event

    Steps Against Melanoma is a community-driven event that raises critical funds for melanoma research. The event brings together survivors, families, caregivers, and supporters for a meaningful and inspiring day.

    Volunteer Role Overview

    Volunteers are essential to the success of this event. They help create a welcoming, organized, and positive experience for all participants. Volunteers should be friendly, reliable, and comfortable engaging with the public.

    Available Volunteer Positions

    Registration Team

    • Check in participants and assist with day-of registration
    • Distribute event materials (t-shirts, wristbands, etc.)
    • Answer basic event questions
    • Ensure lines move efficiently and participants feel welcomed

    Greeters / Welcome Team

    • Welcome participants as they arrive
    • Provide directions and general event information
    • Help create a friendly and energetic atmosphere
    • Assist with crowd flow and wayfinding

    Mission & Activity Area Support

    • Help manage activity tables, sponsor areas, or mission-focused displays
    • Engage participants and answer questions when appropriate
    • Keep areas organized and stocked

    Time Commitment

    Shifts vary by role but generally fall within:

    • Arrival time is 8:00 AM for short training
    • Event begins at 8:30 AM, opening remarks begin at 10:00 AM
    • Shift ends at 10:00 AM
    • Volunteers are welcome to partake in the walk but this is not a requirement

    Qualifications

    • Positive attitude and willingness to help
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Dependable and punctual
    • Comfortable standing and being active for extended periods
