DOROT welcomes highly motivated and socially conscious rising 10th-12th graders who want to make a difference in the lives of older adults. Over the course of 4 weeks, Volunteers work with peers, develop leadership skills and form meaningful connections through a variety of hands-on intergenerational experiences in the community and at program sites. Students earn over 100 hours of community service and develop hands-on leadership experience.
This unique four-week summer opportunity engages a diverse group of socially-conscious high school students in providing 100+ community service hours working with older people.
The Summer Teen Internship is an in-person program that takes place at DOROT’s Manhattan office, 171 W 85th Street.
The first day includes an orientation and training, and each week is guided by a theme. We begin the week with group building games and leadership training. Interns end each week with group reflection.
Each intern will have their own schedule of workshops and visits with older adults that may include:
Days and Times: Monday – Thursday, from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The last day of the program has a closing celebration that ends at around 7:00 PM.
