    Description

Heroes’ Anchor is a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening children and families of military members, veterans, first responders, and emergency medical personnel through community-centered, restorative, and leadership-focused programming. We are currently in a foundational growth phase and are seeking a Volunteer President to serve as a key officer of the organization and partner in building a strong, values-driven governance structure.

This is a voluntary, unpaid board officer position intended for an individual who is motivated by mission, stewardship, and long-term impact rather than compensation. The President works collaboratively with the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer to provide leadership, continuity, and accountability as Heroes’ Anchor develops its programs, partnerships, and organizational infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Preside over Board of Directors meetings and support effective board governance
    • Partner with the CEO to support strategic planning, organizational priorities, and mission alignment
    • Promote board engagement, accountability, and adherence to fiduciary responsibilities
    • Support policy development and governance best practices
    • Serve as a steady leadership presence during the organization’s formative stage

    Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a candidate who:

    • Has prior leadership, governance, or board experience (nonprofit experience preferred but not required)
    • Demonstrates integrity, sound judgment, and collaborative leadership
    • Is comfortable guiding an organization through early growth and structure-building
    • Is aligned with the mission of supporting families of those who serve
    • Is able to commit time for regular board meetings and strategic collaboration

    Time Commitment

This role requires a modest but consistent time commitment, including scheduled board meetings and periodic collaboration with organizational leadership. Specific expectations will be discussed during the selection process.

    Additional Information

The President role is an officer position of the organization and does not involve employment or compensation. Appointment is subject to board review and alignment with Heroes’ Anchor’s bylaws and governance procedures.
