    Description

TWCUYC is seeking community volunteers to support our nonpartisan civic education and community outreach efforts in Dallas County. Volunteers will help share important information about the voting process, available resources, and how community members can participate in civic life.

Our goal is simple. Make sure neighbors have access to clear, accurate information and remove barriers that prevent people from participating in their community.

    What Volunteers Will Do

Volunteers will work in small teams to engage community members in neighborhoods across Dallas County.

    Activities may include:

    • Door-to-door community outreach
    • Sharing voter education materials and resources
    • Providing information about polling locations and voting requirements
    • Helping community members learn how to check voter registration status
    • Connecting residents to resources for obtaining identification documents
    • Supporting community events and outreach tables
    • Encouraging respectful conversations about civic participation

No prior canvassing experience is required. Training and materials will be provided.

    Volunteer Time Commitment

Flexible scheduling is available. Typical outreach shifts are

    • 3 to 4-hour canvassing shifts
    • Weekday evenings or weekend daytime hours
    • Opportunities available throughout the outreach period

Volunteers may participate in one shift or multiple shifts, depending on availability.

    Who Should Volunteer

    We welcome volunteers who

    • Care about strengthening their community
    • Enjoy talking with neighbors and meeting new people
    • Believe everyone should have access to civic information
    • Want to help remove barriers, such as a lack of ID or voting information

Students, community leaders, faith groups, and first-time volunteers are all welcome.

    What Volunteers Receive

    • Orientation and outreach training
    • Canvassing materials and talking points
    • Community leadership experience
    • Opportunities to connect with local organizations and partners
    • The chance to support informed civic participation in Dallas County

    Location

    Dallas County, Texas

Neighborhood outreach will primarily take place in South Dallas, Oak Cliff, and surrounding communities.

    Instructions:

Please note that canvassing involves significant walking. Volunteers may walk through neighborhoods, apartment complexes, and community spaces while speaking with residents and distributing information. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, bringing water, and dressing for the weather.

If walking long distances may be difficult for you, we still welcome your help. Volunteers who prefer to participate from home or in a seated setting can support our phone-banking outreach instead. Phone banking plays an important role in sharing voter information with community members.

If you would prefer phone banking instead of canvassing, please contact us, and we will help you sign up for the next available shift.
