    ABOUT ENROOT

Enroot is a nonprofit rooted in belonging, cultural memory, and human connection. We bring people together across differences through food, story, emotional grounding, and cross-cultural experiences — from community dinners to immersive retreats and cultural activations at festivals.

We believe that meals slow us down, stories soften us, and shared cultural memory brings us closer. Our programs support connection, emotional well-being, cultural humility, and community across geographies and identities.

As we expand our work and prepare for retreat programming, partnerships, and festival activations, we are growing our development and fundraising capacity — and we’re seeking a thoughtful, mission-aligned volunteer to join us.

    POSITION OVERVIEW

Enroot is seeking a Grant Writing & Fundraising Volunteer to support foundation outreach, grant prospecting, proposal drafting, donor communications, and fundraising strategy.

This role is ideal for someone who is:

    • Excited about storytelling and social impact
    • Interested in food culture, belonging, emotional wellness, or cross-cultural work
    • Looking to build (or deepen) experience in nonprofit fundraising
    • Energized by research, writing, and relationship-building
    • Motivated by helping launch a global belonging movement

The volunteer will work closely with Enroot’s founder, Elika Dadsetan, to identify aligned funders, draft LOIs and proposals, and help build a sustainable foundation pipeline.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Foundation & Funder Outreach

    • Research new foundation prospects aligned with Enroot’s mission
    • Maintain a list of high-priority funders (family foundations, corporate foundations, community foundations, etc.)
    • Prepare outreach emails, LOIs, and brief pitches

    • Support creation of annual giving campaigns
    • Help maintain a warm, relational communication tone

You do not need to meet all of the following — it’s okay to learn as you go.

    • Excellent writing and communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Interest in storytelling, culture, emotional wellness, or community building
    • Ability to synthesize information clearly
    • Organized, reliable, consistent with follow-up
