Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, educational enrichment, social-emotional learning, workforce development, and community-centered opportunity.

About PromisePrograms
PromisePrograms serves as the programmatic heart of Mentor A Promise and oversees mentorship, educational enrichment, youth development, student engagement, family partnerships, and volunteer services.
The division exists to ensure that every student receives consistent, high-quality, relationship-centered support.
Role Overview
Mentor A Promise is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Mentorship Programs to provide strategic leadership for the organization's mentorship and volunteer services infrastructure.
This leader oversees the full mentor lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to training, matching, engagement, retention, and long-term mentor success.
The Senior Director is responsible for ensuring that MAP's mentorship programs remain safe, effective, scalable, data-informed, and deeply aligned with the organization's mission.
This role leads one of the most important functions within MAP and directly impacts the quality of support provided to students across all programs.
Core Responsibilities
Mentorship Program Leadership
Lead the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of MAP's mentorship programs.
Oversee:
- Mentor recruitment
- Mentor onboarding
- Mentor training

- Mentor support systems
- Program quality assurance
Help ensure a consistent and high-quality mentorship experience across the organization.
Mentor Lifecycle Management
Develop systems supporting every stage of the mentor journey, including:
- Recruitment

- Onboarding
- Training
- Placement
- Engagement
- Retention
- Recognition
- Offboarding
Build a sustainable and mission-aligned mentor ecosystem.
Program Quality & Outcomes
Partner with PromiseMeasure to:
- Track mentor engagement
- Measure mentor retention
- Evaluate mentoring outcomes
- Monitor program quality
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
Use data to strengthen mentoring relationships and student outcomes.
Volunteer Leadership & Engagement
Develop strategies that strengthen:
