    Description

    MENTORING - Minds Matter DC Mentor

    Our volunteers build relationships with local DC high school students by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success.

    Each student is paired with two volunteer mentors and meets in-person every Saturday during the school year from 12-2 in Washington, DC to work on essays, summer program selection, and school selection.

    Our mentors act as catalysts for the students, providing them with individual support and guidance, allowing each student to fulfill his or her potential and make the leap to college.

    Mentor Expectations:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Act as a positive influence and a role model for students
    • Be a strong communicator to keep mentee, peers, and chapter leadership informed
    • Attend 80% of the sessions from September through May
    • Time commitment: 3-4hrs/week

    More than 1,300 volunteers nationwide dedicate their time help to Minds Matter achieve its mission each year. Minds Matter of Washington, DC is a 100% volunteer based organization. Our organization consists of professionals from diverse career backgrounds in the DMV area. The Minds Matter volunteer experience offers dedicated individuals both the opportunity to meet a group of like-minded adults as well as the opportunity to hold leadership posts and carry the organization to new levels each year.
