    Description

Prince George’s County, MD | Hybrid volunteer role

    About CASA Prince George’s County

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers stand with children and youth in foster care by helping the court understand what a child needs to be safe and supported. When systems are complicated, consistency matters—and CASA volunteers help provide that steady, informed presence.

    What you’ll do

As a CASA volunteer, you will:

    • Build a consistent relationship with a child or youth in foster care
    • Speak up for their best interests by gathering facts and listening closely
    • Communicate with key adults in the child’s life (caregivers, schools, service providers, etc.)
    • Attend virtual court hearings and submit written recommendations to the court with support of your assigned case supervisor
    • Help ensure the child’s needs don’t get overlooked in the process

    Time commitment & requirements

To be a strong fit for this role, you must be able to:

    • Commit to at least 1 year
    • Dedicate 8–12 hours per month
    • Complete 30+ hours of training (provided by CASA)
    • Pass a background check
    • Have reliable transportation for in-person responsibilities in/near Prince George’s County

    Who this role is for

You don’t need a law degree. You do need follow-through, compassion, and the ability to stay consistent.

This can be a great fit for people who are:

    • Steady, dependable, and organized
    • Comfortable speaking up respectfully in professional settings
    • Motivated by community impact and long-term change
