    Description

A Faith That Does Justice (AFTDJ) is currently seeking passionate and dedicated volunteers to join our team as ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teachers or teacher assistants.

English language proficiency is a crucial skill for many individuals in our community, and your contribution as a volunteer ESOL teacher or assistant can help empower them to achieve their goals, whether it's finding better job opportunities, integrating into their new community, or simply gaining the confidence to communicate effectively in English.

    What We Are Looking For:

    • Enthusiastic individuals with a strong command of the English language, preferably as a native speaker.
    • Previous teaching experience is a plus, but not required. We welcome both experienced educators and newcomers to the field.
    • A commitment to volunteering for the 8 week summer schedule of virtual classes on either Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30am or Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm.
    • Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
    • An understanding of the importance of ESOL education in promoting inclusion and empowerment.

    What You Will Do:

    • Deliver engaging ESOL lessons to learners of varying proficiency levels using existing lesson plans. Teacher Assistants will assist students with these lessons.
    • Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable practicing and improving their English skills.
    • Provide constructive feedback and support to help students progress in their language journey.

    Why Volunteer With Us:

    • The opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals in need.
    • Networking and the chance to connect with like-minded individuals in AFTDJ.
    • The satisfaction of knowing you are contributing to greater social cohesion and understanding.

If you are passionate about teaching, helping others, and believe in the power of language to transform lives, we would love to have you as part of our ESOL volunteer team.
