    Description

    Health Matters Clinic is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), Medical Doctor (M.D.), or Physician Assistant (P.A.) to serve as our Street Medicine Lead in Los Angeles. This role requires independent clinical practice in California and experience providing care in community-based or non-traditional settings.

As Street Medicine Lead, you’ll guide mobile outreach events, provide direct patient care, and mentor volunteers, all while advancing our mission of Helping & Healing.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Provide clinical care in street-based and pop-up settings, in compliance with California practice standards
    • Lead and supervise volunteer medical teams during street medicine and outreach events
    • Support volunteer training and ensure adherence to clinical protocols
    • Coordinate with staff on patient navigation, follow-up, and care planning
    • Contribute to strategy discussions around program development and best practices for serving marginalized populations

    What we’re looking for:

    • Active California NP (103/104 certification), D.O., M.D., or P.A. license required
    • Experience in street medicine, mobile clinics, or community-based care
    • Skilled in training, mentoring, and supervising clinical/volunteer teams
    • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable groups
    • Strong commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
    • Able to commit 3-5 hours per week, including monthly street medicine events and quarterly leadership calls

    Note:

    While some planning and communication will be virtual, street medicine activities will take place in various community-based locations throughout Los Angeles County (including encampments, sidewalks, and pop-up outreach sites).
