    Description

Equine Assisted Services Org Seeking Occupational Therapist for Board of Directors

Empowering Strides is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our volunteer Board of Directors and bring clinical, accessibility, and neurodiversity-informed perspective to our organization’s leadership. This is a governance and advisory role, not a clinical treatment position.

Empowering Strides’ mission is to empower neurodivergent individuals with emotional, behavioral and/or cognitive challenges through equine assisted services to improve social/emotional interaction and helping to build a deeper sense of self awareness. While riding and learning to care for the program horses, we instill confidence, responsibility, and self-worth in our students. We create a positive and impactful setting using animals that enriches each rider’s life.

    Board of Directors Responsibilities

    • Legal and Fiduciary Responsibility: Ensure the organization adheres to legal and ethical standards. Act in the best interest of the organization.
    • Strategic Oversight: Approve the organization’s strategic plan, monitor progress, and ensure its implementation.
    • Fundraising and Resource Development: Support and actively participate in fundraising efforts. Cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
    • Advocacy: Promote the organization's mission and goals in the community and to relevant stakeholders.
    • Evaluation: Regularly evaluate the organization's performance, programs, and financial health.

    OT Responsibilities

    • Bring an OT perspective to discussions involving accessibility, neurodivergent participants, program development, and therapy services.
    • Help the Board evaluate opportunities and challenges as our hippotherapy program grows.
    • Guide the development of strong clinical governance practices.
    • Provide a professional perspective on scope of practice, quality assurance and standards.
