ESL, Math, Reading/Writing Tutors for Adults

The Dominican Learning Center is looking for ESL, Math, and Reading/Writing tutors to support adult learners as they work toward their educational goals by facilitating 1:1 tutoring sessions. We provide all lesson plans and materials. This role is ideal for individuals who are dependable, encouraging, and passionate about education and community impact!

Time Commitment

• Approximately 2.5-3 hours per week, including:
  • Instructional time (1.5 -2 hours)
  • Lesson planning/preparation
  • Transportation/travel time
• One-year commitment preferred

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills preferred
• Ability to work consistently and support learners from diverse backgrounds in a positive, respectful manner

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare for and facilitate lessons for participants
• Document learner attendance and educational goals
• Communicate regularly with the Program Manager regarding learner progress, challenges, and support needs

Training and Support

• Attend two required training sessions prior to beginning service
• Receive ongoing guidance and support from Program Managers
