Living Classroom
Individual Board Member Responsibilities
Attend at least 75% of board meetings each year, primarily in person.
Attend and support lively conversation at least two special events per year, including fundraising events.
Be informed about the Living Classroom’s mission, services, policies and programs and be able to describe them to others. Observe a few lessons at schools and tour a few school gardens.
Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.
Serve on at least one board committee or task force.
Make a personal annual financial contribution to the organization at a level that is personally meaningful.
Review and understand by-laws
Inform community about Living Classroom and help bring in additional volunteer and community support. Work with staff to develop an individual fund development plan and actively engage in these activities to meet personal fundraising goals.
Provide a brief bio including the connection to the Living Classroom to be available to the public.
Excuse self from discussions and voting when have a conflict of interest, and bring any apparent conflict of interest to the attention of the Board President or Executive Director.
