    Illinois Single Payer Coalition

    Job Posting: Community Organizing Intern

    Start Date: ASAP

    Term: Negotiable

The Illinois Single Payer Coalition (ISPC) is a statewide community organizing coalition dedicated to winning guaranteed universal health care for all. We campaign for improved “Medicare for All” across the state of Illinois.

Right now, our health care system is failing due to federal funding cuts, and the collapse of the Affordable Care Act. The crisis is forcing some members of Congress to admit that we need to reverse course and pass Medicare for All. But to harness the opportunity in this moment, we need to organize aggressively, immediately.

    Role

ISPC seeks an organizing intern who would like to build skills and experience as an entry point to starting a career in community organizing. We are looking for someone to work approximately 10 hours a week, to be determined based on your availability. You will work from home and out in the community for events and one-on-ones, and coordinate your activities with the Executive Director via phone, email and text.

The intern will be responsible for outreach to ISPC activists across the state and assisting with coordinating organizing activities. Other tasks may be assigned as needed, which are aligned with the candidates skills and experience.

    Benefits

You will benefit from the position by being trained directly by the Executive Director, who has decades of experience in labor, community and issue organizing. You will gain hands-on experience by being given responsibility for goals and objectives and the tools to succeed.

Right now, this is an unpaid position, which we hope to change. If both parties agree, and we secure the necessary funding, we would be open to continuing the position into a part-time, paid position.
