    Description

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain executive-level experience, or a community member ready to have a seat at the table? We are seeking a Board Secretary who will serve as our governance lead and a full voting member of our Board of Directors.

In this role, you aren’t just taking notes—you are a decision-maker. You will have an equal vote on our organization’s strategy, budget, and activist initiatives across Tennessee.

    Why Join Us? (The Perks):

    • Official Credentials: You will be issued a professional email address from the organization for all community outreach and professional networking.
    • Resume Gold: Gain "Board of Directors" experience that stands out to employers in legal, non-profit, and corporate sectors.
    • Networking: Work directly with established activists and community leaders.
    • Direct Impact: Move from "supporter" to "leader" in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in Tennessee.
    • References: We are happy to provide letters of recommendation and LinkedIn endorsements for board members who serve their term.
    • Membership with the Tennessee Nonprofit Network, and access to their benefits!

    What You’ll Do:

    • Strategic Voting: Attend monthly board meetings and cast your vote on key decisions affecting our mission.
    • Professional Correspondence: Help manage the "info@" inbox, responding to community inquiries and acting as a professional touchpoint for the organization.
    • The Paperwork of the Movement: Record meeting minutes to ensure our strategic decisions are documented and legal.
    • Governance Lead: Keep our digital records organized and ensure we stay compliant with Tennessee non-profit regulations.

    Who You Are:

    • The Emerging Professional: Perfect for recent college grads (Law, Poly-Sci, or Business) or anyone looking to build a professional portfolio.
    • A "People Person": You’re comfortable communicating via email and representing the organization to the public.
    • Community-Driven: You want to contribute your time to a cause that matters and help the LGBTQ+ community thrive.

More than just a title or a resume builder, this role is about showing up for the community when it matters most. We are at a pivotal moment for LGBTQ+ rights in Tennessee, and our organization is growing fast to meet that need. We don't just want someone to 'fill a seat'—we want a partner who is passionate about helping us grow, reaching more people, and creating a safer, more vibrant state for all of us.

If you’ve been looking for a way to turn your skills into real-world impact and help lead our community toward a brighter future, we want to hear from you. Let’s grow together.
