    Job Position: (Volunteer) Prison Advocacy Support Specialist

    Gender Freedom Society is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to building an inclusive and supportive community for gender-diverse people. Through education, advocacy and community building, we create spaces where everyone can thrive in their authentic selves.

    Candidates for this position must be residents of North America.

    Role Summary:

    Gender Freedom Society is seeking (Volunteer) Prison Advocacy Support Specialists to assist with general prison advocacy work supporting incarcerated transgender and gender-diverse individuals.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide general support for prison advocacy activities as assigned.
    • Assist with preparing letters, summaries, and advocacy-related documentation.
    • Conduct basic research on correctional policies and procedures.
    • Organize and incoming information for review by senior advocates.
    • Support internal case tracking and administrative workflows.
    • Help compile timelines, summaries, and internal reports.
    • Participate in required training related to confidentiality, safety, and advocacy practices.
    • Follow all documentation, privacy, and escalation protocols.

    Qualifications:

    • Interest in civil rights, prison advocacy, or LGBTQ+ justice.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to follow structured procedures and guidance.
    • Reliability and attention to detail.
    • Comfort working with sensitive subject matter.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Lived experience may be considered in place of formal education or professional experience.
