Summary of Position: Provide Service Excellence by providing compassionate support to families; assist families with resources available; greet visitors and assist them with directions; escort patients and guests through the hospital to their destination, as needed.
Nature and Scope: Ambassador assignments may be available in Central Lounge or Same Day Surgery
Training:
- Must attend Volunteer Orientation
- Position-specific training will be provided by assignment coordinator
Availability:
- Days: Monday thru Friday
- Time Slots: 4 hour shifts between 8am- 9pm; schedules will vary depending on department assignment
Specific Duties:
- Provide compassionate support to families in needs during critical situations with patients
- Talk to families waiting to ensure their needs are met. Such as coffee, wayfinding to food areas, access to clergy, access the internet, reading patient tracker board
- Escort patients and guest, as needed
- Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must pass tuberculosis and immunization screening
- Ability to take instructions and communicate effectively with staff, patients and families
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
- Ability to behave in a mature, positive manner and have a service-oriented attitude
- Ability to communicate clearly in English
- Ability to provide culturally competent and sensitive service for others
- Ability to show initiative, be flexible and volunteer independently
- Ability to have knowledge of the building in order to escort patients, families, visitors and patients to the appropriate area of the facility
- Ability to protect the privacy and confidentiality of all patients and guests
- Ability to be dependable and organized
- Ability to have a professional attitude and appearance at all times\
Physical Requirements: Light: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously.

- Moderate Walking, ability to escort and transport patients in wheelchairs
