Event Coordinator for Legacy Paws Rescue

Project Overview
Legacy Paws Rescue needs an Event Coordinator right now more than almost anything else. I'm currently stuck inside caring for one of our dogs through a round of surgeries, and our event calendar can't wait for me to be free again. Most of what I need built are community engagement events: things that build awareness, bring in fosters and adopters, and open the door to funding and sponsors. Alongside that I also want a monthly Legacy Paws family meetup, just for fun, no business, for the people already in our orbit. That's one event on the calendar. The bigger piece is getting Legacy Paws in front of the wider community in ways nobody else in rescue is doing.
What You'd Actually Be Doing
- Plan and run community-facing events built to grow awareness and bring in fosters, adopters, funding, and sponsors: town-wide scavenger hunts, art shows, Dating with Dogs, and more
- Plan memorial gatherings at Rainbow Bridge Island for families who've lost a dog. These need a different tone entirely: quiet, tender, and centered on the people grieving, not a performance
- Take my ideas and actually run with them, and bring your own. I want a real creative partner, not someone waiting for a fully formed brief
- Build out our new painting program into its own recurring public event, and lean into theme, costume, and full send fun. We are not a normal rescue, and these are not normal events
- Also plan and run a monthly Legacy Paws family meetup, virtual and in person, pure fun with no business on the agenda, for our existing volunteers, fosters, and adopters
- Own event logistics start to finish: venue, timeline, volunteers needed, supplies, promotion
- Coordinate with our outreach and social media teams so every event actually brings people in the door, not just planned in a vacuum
Why This Matters
I'm the kind of person who thinks in scavenger hunts and costume parties, not committee meetings, and I want to put that to work growing this rescue: more people who know we exist, more fosters, more adopters, more sponsors standing behind us. Right now I can't be the one building that, because I'm inside taking care of a dog who needs me more. I need somebody who gets excited by a wide open idea instead of intimidated by it, because that's exactly what I'm handing over.
How We've Prepared
- You won't be doing this solo. You'll have a team behind you for whatever support you need, including social media to help promote and staff these events, plus logistics and funding support
- Our painting program is already starting up, ready for someone to build into a full recurring event
- Past events already have a track record here, so you're building on something, not starting from zero
- You'd work directly with me. I'm not a distant board, I'm the person who will be bouncing ideas back and forth with you
About Legacy Paws Rescue
Legacy Paws Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-2211382) founded in January 2025 by Domenica Robbins, a U.S. Air Force veteran and former psychiatric registered nurse. We're a home sanctuary, not a kennel, for dogs other rescues call too aggressive, too broken, or too much. Our mission: creating a community of kindness where healing happens on both ends of the leash. Learn more at legacypawsrescue.org.
