Remote Online Fundraising & Proposal Writing Volunteer

Location: Remote (Online) – Preference for volunteers based in Europe or America

Smile Community Centre is a children’s home and rescue centre based in Soweto slum, Eastlands of Nairobi, Kenya. We provide shelter, care, and education to abandoned, orphaned, and vulnerable children. Our mission is to give children a safe home, hope, and a brighter future.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Remote Online Fundraising & Proposal Writing Volunteer to help us raise awareness and mobilize resources for our work. The volunteer will play a key role in developing creative fundraising strategies, drafting compelling proposals, and reaching out to potential donors, organizations, and partners. Your immediate work will be to review existing proposals and help us improve and reach out to donors

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and manage online fundraising campaigns (via social media, crowdfunding platforms, and email).
• Research potential donors, partners, and grant opportunities globally.
• Draft compelling funding proposals and donor reports tailored to different organizations and foundations.
• Reach out to potential donors, foundations, and organizations with proposals and partnership requests.
• Help design engaging digital content to attract supporters.
• Maintain communication with donors, sending updates and thank-you notes.
• Track fundraising progress and report outcomes to the team.
• Contribute ideas to grow Smile Community Centre’s global online presence.

Requirements:

• Strong interest in non-profits, fundraising, or child welfare.
• Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
• Ability to research, draft, and pitch professional proposals.
• Comfortable using social media and digital fundraising tools.
• Creative, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Prior fundraising, proposal writing, or donor relations experience (an advantage).
• Preference will be given to English speaking volunteers based in Europe or America to help us connect more effectively with donors in those regions.

Time Commitment:

Flexible — minimum of 4–6 hours per week (can be adjusted to fit your schedule).
