Help homebound seniors with their family member - their pet!
Details
Description
In partnership with Meals on Wheels America and PetSmart, our upcoming Pet Program will assist seniors with pet care, ensuring they have the resources to keep their beloved pets healthy, clean, and well cared for. Studies have shown that if a senior does not have enough money for pet food, they share their home-delivered meal with their pet – sacrificing their nutrition for their pet’s sustenance. Pets can be the last line of social interaction for some seniors. Many home-delivered seniors do not have family or friends left to promote socialization. Pets provide love, companionship, and purpose. This program empowers seniors to maintain strong emotional connections, supporting their mental health and full potential for happiness and independence while remaining in their homes.
There will be availability to deliver pet food, walk dogs, help to prepare supplies to deliver to seniors, and offer rides to Tractor Supply for their Wellness Clinics for pets on one Sunday a month. There may be other additional opportunities as the program develops and expands into Bayfield County.
