Position Overview
Are you a "people person" who loves building community? Surmount is seeking a Volunteer Engagement & Retention Specialist to ensure our volunteers feel valued, heard, and empowered. You will be the bridge between our mission and the people who make it happen, helping us foster a culture where everyone can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Listen & Learn: Conduct monthly "pulse-check" outreach to volunteers to gather feedback on their experience.
- Advocate: Identify common pain points and brainstorm creative solutions with the People & Culture Manager.
- Celebrate: Help design and execute volunteer appreciation initiatives (e.g., shout-outs, virtual coffee chats, or recognition spotlights).
- Collaborate: Work with program leads to ensure volunteer communication is clear, consistent, and welcoming.
Qualifications
- High level of empathy and excellent active listening skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to handle feedback with professionalism and a "growth mindset."
- Reliable and able to commit to 5 hours per week.
