    Description

Make a Difference at a Children’s Home in Mwanza

Watoto Wa Africa is a Christian, faith-based children’s home located in Mwanza, Tanzania. We care for orphaned and vulnerable children who have been placed with us through the government social welfare department. Our goal is to provide a safe, loving, and structured environment where children can grow spiritually, academically, emotionally, and physically.

We are seeking compassionate, committed volunteers who are willing to serve with humility, patience, and respect for our culture and values.

    Responsibilities

Depending on skills and length of stay, volunteers may assist with:

      • Teaching and tutoring (English, mathematics, science, computer skills)
      • Homework support and mentorship
      • Organizing educational and recreational activities
      • Assisting with life-skills training and discipleship
      • Supporting agricultural and sustainability projects (garden, poultry)
      • Administrative support, proposal writing, or communications
      • Health and hygiene education
      • General support in daily activities at the children’s home

Volunteers work alongside our local team and leadership. We do not allow volunteers to replace staff roles but to support and strengthen existing programs.

    Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who:

      • Have a heart for children and community service
      • Are mature, responsible, and adaptable
      • Respect Christian values and our faith-based environment
      • Are willing to work as part of a team
      • Have relevant skills (teaching, healthcare, agriculture, social work, administration, etc.) — though not mandatory for all roles
      • Can commit to a minimum stay (preferred: 2 weeks or longer)

Background checks may be required for those working directly with children.

    Additional Information

Volunteers are expected to respect Tanzanian culture and child protection policies. Accommodation arrangements can be discussed upon acceptance. Some contributions toward food and living expenses may be required depending on length of stay.

By volunteering with Watoto Wa Africa, you become part of restoring dignity, building confidence, and creating opportunities for children who deserve a hopeful future.
