    Description

Build a Fundraising System Our Team Can Run

Legacy Paws Rescue is looking for a fundraising consultant for a defined, short-term project: work directly with our Executive Director to build three practical tools, hand them off to our team, and set us up to run them on our own.

We're building a different kind of rescue, focused on prevention, education, and supporting both ends of the leash. We have big plans, limited resources, and people who want to help. What we're missing is structure. Right now our fundraising happens in bursts, usually when something urgent comes up. This project is about changing that, so fundraising becomes steady and planned, and people always know how they can be part of what we're doing.

    Project deliverables

    1. An annual fundraising calendar. A 12-month plan that maps out our campaigns, events, giving days, and seasonal fundraisers (like our Holiday Hound portrait series), with who owns each one, when it launches, and what it needs to get done.
    2. A 48-hour donor thank-you and receipt process. A repeatable workflow so every donor gets a real, personal thank-you and a proper tax receipt within two days. Templates, timing, and clear steps for whoever is handling it that week. This should also cover how we thank Facebook and PayPal Giving Fund donors, since those platforms handle receipts and donor info differently than Zeffy.
    3. A campaign tracking and report template. One easy place to log goals, dollars raised, donors, and what worked or didn't, plus a short report format we can share with our board and supporters after each campaign.

    What "done" looks like

All three tools are built, tested, and handed off, and our team has had a walkthrough on each one. They need to be simple enough that a volunteer can pick them up without a training manual. A beautiful spreadsheet nobody opens doesn't help us.

Estimated timeline: [6 to 8 weeks]

    Tools we currently use

Zeffy (online donations and campaigns), Facebook Fundraisers, PayPal Giving Fund, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), QuickBooks (bookkeeping), and Etsy (custom pet portrait fundraiser). Please build around these instead of adding new subscriptions.

    Who we're looking for

Someone with experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor stewardship, or development operations who likes turning messy, creative energy into systems that actually get used. You're organized, you explain things clearly, and you care about the people on both sides of a donation.

    Beyond this project

This is a project with a clear finish line. That said, we're a growing rescue and we'll have more work ahead, including a donor database build. If we work well together and you connect with the mission, we'd love to talk about what comes next.

If you believe fundraising can be about connection, community, and giving people a reason to care, not just asking for money, we'd love to build something meaningful with you.
