What can I post in an event listing?

Event listings are a great way to get the word out about upcoming in-person or virtual events your organization is hosting.

Event listings are free to post and can be posted by any of Idealist’s approved organization types. This includes US-based organizations and organizations outside of the United States.

Listings should clearly explain how the event relates to your organization’s mission as well as meet our community guidelines and Terms of Service. Great examples of acceptable event listings include:

  • Workshops and webinars
  • Fundraising events like a local bake sale
  • Events to raise awareness like a 5K walk

Event listings should NOT be used to:

  • Seek employees, interns or volunteers. Check out our other article to find out how to post a listing.
  • Promote concerts, sporting events or other events that don’t contribute to your organization's social good mission.
  • Solicit funds directly through a crowdfunding or donation link
  • Encourage hate or violence
  • Promote a brand, product, or service unrelated to your organization’s mission

You must be an administrator of an organization before being able to post to Idealist. If you aren’t already an administrator of your organization’s profile, check out how to become an administrator. Not on Idealist yet? Find out how to add your organization!
