About USFUVG
The US Foundation of the University of the Valley of Guatemala (USFUVG) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to support the University of the Valley of Guatemala (UVG), a private, not-for-profit university with three campuses in Guatemala. UVG is dedicated to educating all qualified students, including those from historically marginalized communities. USFUVG’s objectives include raising funds for scholarships and UVG facilities, as well as building our foundation’s endowment (current value ~$5 million).
About the Position
USFUVG is seeking a part-time (average 20 hours/week) Development and Administrative Director. The position supports the work of the USFUVG board, whose primary goal is to raise funds for scholarships for Guatemalan students who would not otherwise have access to higher education.
We are looking for a self-directed, collaborative development leader with at least three years of proven fundraising and administrative experience who can work independently to grow our donor base, deepen relationships with existing supporters, and liaise between our US community and the leadership and development teams at UVG in Guatemala.
The Development and Administrative Director’s primary responsibility is to increase revenue from individual and institutional donors. They also work with USFUVG board members, the foundation’s part-time comptroller, and Guatemalan colleagues to establish systems and best practices for the foundation’s operations. The role involves a wide set of activities – from leading the foundation’s fundraising strategy, to organizing annual board meetings, to performing administrative tasks. There is significant autonomy in the day-to-day work. As a result, experience, self-direction, self-organization, and willingness to “wear many hats” are necessary for the position.
The position represents an excellent opportunity to build out a fundraising program, lead development strategy, and improve organizational systems. With success, the role could evolve into expanded leadership, potentially progressing into an ED role.
The position is remote, can be located anywhere in the U.S., and reports to the President and Vice-president of the board.
