Job Title: Administrative Assistant: Head Start California Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid – Remote with 1 office day/week) Job Type: Part-time (20 hours/week) | Pay: $23.00 - $25.00/hour

By joining Head Start California as an Administrative Assistant (AA), you become part of a decades-long movement to end the generational cycle of poverty through early education and family interventions.
Job Description: We are seeking an AA to keep our operations running smoothly. In this role, you will support non-profit governance, member engagement, database integrity, and statewide events like our Annual Conference and Advocacy Day.
What You'll Do:
- Keep office, logistics, and digital filing systems organized.
- Assist with event execution, speaker agreements, and on-site support (paid travel included).
- Handle board meeting logistics and committee minutes.
- Maintain member records in our database (Novi AMS).
Qualifications:
- AA degree OR 1 year of admin experience.
- Tech proficiency (Microsoft 365, Canva, Zoom).
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Head Start parents, alumni, or former staff preferred!

Level of Language Proficiency
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree in a related field; or
- 1 year paid or volunteer experience in an administrative role, or other tasks relevant to this position, and a diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Experience in an administrative role, or other tasks relevant to this position
- Familiarity with event management platforms—such as PheedLoop—is highly desirable
- Familiarity with association management software—such as Novi AMS (the platform we use)—is highly desirable
- Knowledge of and/or interest in Head Start (preference will be given to Head Start parents, alumni, or former staff)
- Bilingual
