  • Mission

The Roxborough Home for Women (RHW) is a Philadelphia neighborhood legacy, providing personal care and support for aging women of reduced financial means in a homelike surrounding since 1887.

    About Us

As a Personal Care Home and the oldest US non-profit senior home for women, the Roxborough Home for Women (RHW) cares for each senior resident by understanding individual needs and encouraging independent living, in a community setting. The Home encourages socialization through participation in physical, and mental activities as well as nutrition. It encourages family and community involvement.

RHW, housed in a building designed by Furness and Evans in 1887, is proud of its heritage, continuing the mission established by the Wills of Samuel Gorgas and his niece Susan Gorgas
