Homeless individuals trying to transition to independent housing are often navigating a complex system of programs provided by various organizations. In addition, there are several barriers, penalties, and disincentives that prevent successful transition such as move-in and application fees for temporary housing that have to be covered by the homeless individual or risk of eviction if the individual faces any temporary crisis. The Homeless Support Program offer the following approaches to support the

1. Temporary financial assistance to navigate any barriers that may prevent successful transition; and,

This two-fold approach provides a more integrated solution in resolving underlying root issues causing homelessness. Funding to the Homeless Support Program will help provide a more comprehensive solution for the growing homelessness population and increase the chances for successful transition to independent housing for chronically homeless individuals.
