Grameen America is a nonprofit microfinance organization dedicated to helping low-income entrepreneurs build businesses to enable upward financial mobility. We are built on a simple but radical idea: community is capital. Across America, talented entrepreneurs stand ready to build businesses, support their families, and strengthen their neighborhoods—but traditional financial systems often say they do not qualify. We say they do.

Through our member-led, trust-based group lending model, entrepreneurs gain access to affordable capital, credit- and asset-building, education and peer support to enable our members to boost their business income, create jobs and transform communities.

Founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus in 2008, Grameen America is the fastest growing nonprofit microfinance organization in the U.S., having invested over $7 billion in more than 270,000 low-income underserved entrepreneurs while demonstrating measurable impact.
