SFLIG Volunteers

  • About Us

Founded over a decade ago, SFLIG Volunteers is a registered grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable community development and cross-cultural exchange in Ghana. We bridge the gap between passionate global citizens—including university students, medical electives, professionals, and groups—and impactful, community-led initiatives on the ground.

By prioritizing ethical volunteering and sustainable development goals (SDGs), SFLIG ensures that every placement creates a measurable, positive outcome for local communities while offering an immersive, safe, and transformative educational experience for the volunteer.

    Our Core Programs & Tracks

We operate structured, year-round volunteer and internship programs across three primary pillars:

    • Education & School Assistance: Supporting local schools from early childhood development (Creche & Kindergarten) through Junior High. Volunteers assist with English literacy, mathematics, STEM subjects, sports coaching, and creative arts.
    • Healthcare & Medical Electives: Providing tailored clinical placements for pre-med, nursing, and public health students, as well as qualified medical professionals, across various hospital units and community health outreaches.
    • Community Development & Social Work: Empowering youth, supporting women's initiatives, and executing community-driven infrastructure and social welfare projects.

    The SFLIG Experience & Support

We understand that volunteering abroad requires a high level of trust, safety, and organization. SFLIG provides a fully managed, end-to-end placement experience including:

    • Comprehensive Accommodations: Secure, vetted host-family living arrangements and dedicated volunteer housing featuring 24/7 support.
    • In-Country Integration: Airport reception at Kotoka International Airport (ACC), comprehensive cultural orientation, and language support.
    • Flexible & Diverse Placement Options: Open to individuals (ages 16+), university groups, couples, and families. Programs range flexibly from 2 weeks to 3 months with customizable track options.
