Mission
Honduras Child Alliance operates community-based programs that promote educational enrichment and healthy living, empowering children to pursue academic and employment opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
In El Porvenir, Atlantida, Honduras, we help students build essential skills by reinforcing academics, strengthening literacy in Spanish and English, and developing computer competence. With educational programs starting at age 6, all the way through professional development for young adults, our programs also spark curiosity through science, art, and creative expression—nurturing confidence, leadership, and self-esteem along the way.
With the support of international volunteers, donors, and like-minded partners, HCA offers all programs at no cost to students across three community learning centers in El Porvenir, Honduras.

About Us
We live and work at the beach! The Honduras Child Alliance provides community-based educational enrichment and healthy living programs for children, teens, and adults in the north-coast beach community of El Porvenir. Programs include: English & Spanish literacy, computer instruction, nutrition, intro to science, sports and fitness, sexuality education, arts, group skills/conflict resolution, and more! Our blended team of international volunteers, alongside our bilingual team of Honduran managers and interns, works together in a unified effort.
This combined energy fosters a unique and effective set of skills to support educational and humanitarian projects that improve the quality of life in our hardworking and friendly community of El Porvenir. Facilitated by our collaborative team, children in grades 1-6 can attend educational enrichment classes, teens and young adults can gain professional development and work experience, and adults enthusiastically attend a bi-weekly English class. In addition to educational programs, our volunteers can also assist in running a program that provides vaccinations and healthcare for dogs and cats!
There are manager opportunities (12 mos.) for those interested in development, community outreach, or international education. Manager roles come with free housing and a stipend. Internship opportunities (6+ mos.) are offered for those volunteers especially interested in nutrition and food insecurity, social media, tech maintenance, social enterprises (growing a business), and more. As we collaborate to develop opportunities for children in El Porvenir, we welcome volunteers, sponsors, and cooperation with like-minded organizations.
Honduras Child Alliance has worked in El Porvenir since 2009. Although poverty, access to education, and food insecurity are serious issues, our community is welcoming and safe, with the tranquil Caribbean Sea just past our front door! Our clean, comfortable, and secure volunteer houses are fully equipped and are walking distance to all of the projects. Housing costs $7 USD per day or less, depending on the length of stay. Spanish instruction is available. Live at the beach!
