Our Mission

Fostering & After Care for pet owners in recovery. We provide temporary foster placement for dogs and other pets while their owners enter treatment programs, transitional housing, or other recovery services. We collaborate with treatment facilities, case managers, and community partners to ensure both the person and their pet receive the support they need throughout the recovery journey. Dogs and other pets receive safe housing, daily care, and veterinary support while their owners focus on healing, with the goal of reuniting families once stability is achieved.

Dogs Matter is a unique program dedicated to keeping people and their pets together during some of life’s most challenging moments. The program supports individuals experiencing homelessness or substance use recovery by providing temporary foster care for their dogs while they pursue treatment, housing, or stability. By removing the barrier of pet ownership, Dogs Matter helps people access critical resources without having to surrender their companion animals. Through compassionate care, structured support, and strong community partnerships, the program creates pathways for both people and pets to heal and move forward together.
