    Description

    GRANT WRITER

Legacy Paws Rescue is a veteran-owned 501(c)(3) dog rescue and sanctuary in Catawba, NC, and we are seeking one Grant Writer to help us pursue funding we have never been able to access. In eighteen months of operation we have rescued 17 dogs and never submitted a single grant application — not because we don't qualify, but because we don't know where to start. Responsibilities include researching and identifying 10 to 15 grants we are realistically eligible for across animal welfare, veteran causes, child development, and North Carolina community funding, building a grant calendar with deadlines and requirements, drafting or reviewing our first application, and creating a reusable narrative we can adapt for future submissions independently. We will provide all organizational documentation needed — 501(c)(3) determination letter, EIN, program descriptions, budget, and our full rescue history. The ideal volunteer has experience writing or researching nonprofit grant applications, is comfortable working with a small first-time applicant, and can work remotely on a flexible timeline. Any experience with animal welfare, veteran-focused, or North Carolina funders is a bonus.
