Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk was founded in 1987 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit affordable housing organization. In April of 2022 Habitat Suffolk merged with Habitat Nassau and create the new affiliate Habitat for Humanity of Long Island We work with over 6,000 volunteers and partner with responsible, low-income families of all faiths and cultures to build and renovate decent, attractive houses in communities in which people can live and grow. Building or renovating a home nearly every month, Habitat Long Island recently celebrated the dedication of our 235th home as we continue our work throughout Suffolk and Nassau County from the North and South Forks of the island to Bay Ridge. Through the efforts of committed volunteers, staff and our board, Habitat Long Island continues to be an important part of the solution to the affordable housing crisis. Volunteers are the life blood of our organization!
