Shaker Historical Society

The Shaker Historical Society collects, preserves, and interprets the history of Shaker Heights to inspire curiosity and foster engagement between diverse communities and the people, events, and stories that shape local history.

The Shaker Historical Society (SHS) is a community-based non-profit historical society and museum founded in 1947 to provide stewardship for our region's significant history. The museum is housed in the historic 1910 Myers Mansion in Shaker Heights, a nationally significant inner ring suburb located 20 minutes from Downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The building is situated on the grounds of a former apple orchard and vegetable garden of the North Union Shaker Village. SHS has three full-time employees and one part-time employee to organize year-round programming, exhibitions, and historical research. We serve residents of Shaker Heights and surrounding cities, local schools and retirement communities, and visitors from all over the globe.
