Meals on Wheels of Takoma Park/Silver Spring
Mission
Meals on Wheels Takoma Park Silver Spring exists to ensure that older adults, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable residents can access nutritious food, live with dignity, and remain safely and independently in their homes. Through meal delivery and consistent human connection, we address food insecurity and isolation. We believe access to food, care, and visibility should not depend on income, mobility, or circumstance.
About Us
Meals on Wheels Takoma Park Silver Spring was founded in 1971 and has served older adults, individuals with disabilities, and vulnerable residents across Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, including residents in Washington, DC, for over 50 years. The organization was built on a simple model: delivering meals directly to individuals who are unable to consistently access food, while also providing regular human connection.
Today, our program delivers over 55,000 meals annually, and we are on pace to exceed 65,000 meals this year. Each meal represents more than nutrition. It is a consistent point of contact that supports health, safety, and connection for individuals who may otherwise be isolated.
