MISPA
Mission
The Macro Institute for Social Policy and Action (MISPA) bridges the gap between frontline experience and policy spaces through education, community, and leadership development. We cultivate an interdisciplinary pipeline that equips emerging professionals in the helping professions to move from micro-level care to macro-level policy awareness and advocacy.
About Us
We support frontline practitioners (such as counselors, therapist, social workers, case managers, and public health workers) and rising students across the social sciences (including public health, public policy, psychology, and sociology) who have traditionally been shut out of gatekept policy-making circles.
Our Core Values & Community Insight
- Demystifying Complex Systems: Traditional policy spaces are heavily gatekept by elite credentials and advanced academic backing. We act as educational translators, breaking down dense macro-level policy (like healthcare AI regulations and Medicaid funding structures) into digestible, practical career tools for those doing the groundwork.
- Proximity as a Qualification: We fiercely believe that the individuals closest to community problems—those dealing firsthand with housing insecurity, mental health access, and systemic poverty—are the ones who belong in the room when the laws are written.
- Capacity Building Over Passive Learning: We don't just study broken systems; we actively equip our network to change them. Through research fellowships, civic education seminars, tactical workshops, and independent student-governed leadership networks, we provide the practical playbook for structural advocacy that traditional textbooks leave out.
