Unruled Masses

Unruled Masses is a New York-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit startup that is building new and dynamic public civic intelligence and direct action infrastructure. These tools enable ordinary people to expose abuse patterns, map corruption networks and coordinate civic engagement and community building worldwide. We are nonpartisan, guided by evidence, grounded in human rights, and partner-focused to support pro-democratic coalitions. UM seeks to unite people and partners with intelligence, materials and communications to rebuild connected and hopeful communities where institutions are accountable to the people. 

Unruled Masses exists to support people everywhere who demand to live under systems governed by equality, the rule of law, and accountable democratic leadership. We work to confront corruption and the capture of public-serving institutions by private interests—at the highest levels of political power and across all domains of daily life, including housing, workplaces, schools, healthcare, and beyond.

Our mission is to make systemic abuse of power impossible to hide and increasingly difficult to sustain. By transforming evidence-based exposure, nonviolent resistance, and democracy-building civic engagement into disciplined, repeatable practice, Unruled Masses equips people and partners to respond strategically—locally and globally—to reclaim institutions, protect dignity, and strengthen democratic life.

UM is powered by a multidisciplinary team of specialists from fields including human rights, intelligence, military, political science, law, technology, data science, creative arts, and communications.
